You can file for Connecticut Unemployment Claims Online or renew Unemployment Benefits for Connecticut online. You can also search several resources and funds to all unemployed in the state. This consists of extensions on benefits or job training or additional funding.

1. Claims Filing by Phone:

You must complete an initial (or new) claim by telephone or over the Internet to apply for Unemployment Insurance. If your employer has not or will not issue notice then do not delay in filing your claim. You should file your claim instantly.

For filing a claim through phone, times and days are given below,

File your weekly continued claim: Sunday, 12 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Eastern Standard Time (E.S.T.)

File or resume filing your initial (new) claim or reopen your claim: Monday to Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (E.S.T.)

All other inquiry options, including employer information, are available 7 days/week, 24 hours/day:

For your convenience, customer service representatives are available during normal business hours: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (E.S.T.)

The following call-in schedule for individuals filing initial or reopened unemployment is now in effect, to ensure the best possible customer service.

Monday: callers with social security numbers ending in numerals 0 through 4 can call the TeleBenefits “Dial to File” system.
Tuesday: callers with social security numbers ending in numerals 0 through 7 can call the TeleBenefits “Dial to File” system.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: callers with social security numbers ending in any numeral (0-9) can call the TeleBenefits “Dial to File” system.

If Monday is a Holiday (agency closed):

Tuesday: callers with social security numbers ending in numerals 0 through 3 can call.
Wednesday: callers with social security numbers ending in numerals 0 through 7 can call.
Thursday and Friday: everyone can file.

2. File Your Initial Claim, Weekly/Continued Claim, or Conduct an Inquiry on the Internet:

Requirements for Filing a New Claim:

You may use their online system if you are totally unemployed at this time; you had only one employer in the last six (6) months; and you are a U.S. citizen, or a non-citizen with a valid Alien Registration Number;

You may not use their online system if you:

are a construction worker without a valid NCCI code.
worked in, or filed a claim against, a state other than Connecticut in the last 18 months;
are receiving a pension, other than social security benefits;
served in the U.S. Military in the last 18 months;
worked for the Federal Government in the last 18 months;
are part of a temporary or vacation shutdown and returning to work within 6 weeks;
are participating in the Shared Work Program;
live outside the United States, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Filing an Unemployment Insurance Claim:

To file a claim, go on this website, there is an Alert option on the left side of the page, click on it. The new page will be opened, on that page, there are three options on the right side of the page, like

2. File a continued claim:

Continued Claim is for filling your Weekly Continued Claim, if you are at present claiming unemployment benefits.

3. Perform a claim inquiry:

It is for performing a Continued Claim Inquiry and to review your Benefits History.

3. Filing a Claim for a Temporary Lay-Off of Six Weeks or Less (Shutdown/Vacation Claim):

Employees are qualified to file for Unemployment Benefits using the Temporary Layoff/Vacation Shutdown New Claim form (UC-62V), who on temporary layoff with a DEFINITE back to work date six weeks or less from their last date worked.

Only if the employer has provided the return date on the separation notice given to the employee (UC61, commonly called “pink slip”, or UC-62V) which is considered “definite”.

Notice has been written by you if:

Your employer completed Section III of this form and there is a date in box #9 fewer than six weeks from the date in box #8; Or,

You are provided a Separation Packet containing form UC-61 (pink slip) and on form there is a date in box H fewer than six weeks from the date in box I. It must be attached to the completed form UC-62V if you have this form.

An employee is allowed to receive his or her unemployment benefit without calling the “Dial to File” telebenefits system through Use of the UC-62V. Employees without a definite return to work date (as defined above) or with return to work dates greater than six weeks from their last date worked must use the “Dial to File” system to file their claim over the telephone.
