Obama On Youtube Questions & Answers

US president Barack Obama gave answers of questions of YouTube users on yesterday afternoon at 1:45 p.m. EST. The event was run at least 40 minutes. The event was live streamed on the video sharing site and the official White House. Thousand of YouTube users submitted more than 12,000 questions on YouTube. Obama had no time for answer all 12,000 questions, that’s why YouTube users then voted for their favorite questions and some of the top vote-getting video questions were shown to Obama by Steve Grove.

YouTube users submitted question on a wide range of issues including jobs, the economy, health care, foreign policy, energy, the environment, education, and financial and government reform.

The questions covered familiar territory for Obama, ranging from health care and tax breaks for small businesses to help for people losing their homes to foreclosure.

YouTube users also asked about policy toward Sudan and closing the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Some question is about on free of fees, a college student said that he works three jobs and asked the president, what he is doing to make college tuition more affordable. That time US president to talk about legislation pending in the Senate that would change the way student loans are processed to increase Pell grants and add funds for community colleges. One of the most popular questions of this event is legalization of marijuana as lobbying groups—as they have done with previous open Internet forums—mobilized their supporters to flood YouTube with submissions.

Obama had given his view on legalization of marijuana at a similar forum last year involving questions submitted by the public online, but the question was not among those asked on Monday.

At the end of the YouTube interview obama said he hopes to be able to repeat the experience “on a more regular basis, because it gives me great access to all the people out there with wonderful ideas.” White House has a channel on YouTube in addition to its presence on Facebook, Flickr, MySpace, and Twitter.
