Azim Premji is the chairman of Wipro which is one of the largest software companies in India. In India’s 1.3 million government-run schools, the Azim Premji Foundation wants to change system so it operates elementary education [class 1 to 8] to pilot and develop ‘proofs of concept’ in the rural area. Azim Premji Foundation’s programs are focused on creating effectual and scalable models which improve the quality of learning in the school and ensure satisfactory ownership.
The Foundation is continuously instrumental in improving the quality of rural schools general education. Currently, it has 200 professionals associated team and several hundred paid volunteers in the field. The Azim Premji Foundation says “Aims at making a tangible impact on identified social issues by working in active partnership with the Government and other related sectors of society“.
