How to Download NTSE Sample Papers 2010

NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) is a national level scholarship program in India which identifies and nurture talented students. Students who studying in Class VII are eligible for NTSE scholarship program. It is organized by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). NTSE exam is considered as the most prestigious examinations in India. Every year, there are above 1,50,000 students appear for the examination of the NTSE and this examination only for Indian citizens students. For preparation you can download NTSE sample papers of 2010 which is provided below.

National Talent Search Scheme is begun during 1963. The scheme’s goal was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. The scheme covers various courses like Engineering, Social Sciences, Medicine, Management, Sciences, and Law and provide help for talented students by financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship. This assistance is provided for the courses in Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Commerce up to Ph.D. level and for professional courses such as Engineering, Medical, Management and Law up to Post Graduation level. The NCERT will arrange the National Talent Search Examination to students studying in Class VIII during 2010. The scheme is only for Indian students and its official name is National Science Talent Search (NSTS).

NTSE is an excellent imitation test for candidate of IIT, AIEEE, All engineering and medical entrance exams. The First ranker in each class will be awarded with a Gold Medal and laptop Computer + a Memento.

Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducted, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for Class VIII examinations. The amount of scholarship will be Rs.500/- per month as per NTS rules.

Reservation:

  • 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category
  • 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category
  • 3% for Physically Challenged Group of Students

Selection: Selection process will be done by two stages for award of scholarship.

  • Stage-1: States/UTs will do selection through a written examination.
  • Stage-2: After passed Stage-I students will be eligible for Stage II and stage-II examination conducted by NCERT.

Eligibility: Students of Class VIII studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the respective Class VIII Stage-1 examination conducted by the States/UTs in which the schools are located.

Examination: The pattern of written examination for Class VIII will be as below:

  • Stage -1: At the State/UT level will comprise examination in two parts (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) and (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics.
  • Stage-2: At the National level will comprise examination in three parts (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT), (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics, (c) Interview. Only those candidates who qualify the written examination at the National Level will be invited for interview.

State Quotas: Each State/Union Territory has been allotted a quota to recommend a specific number of candidates for the Stage 2 examination, the details of which will be made presented on NCERT website. But after the Stage 2 examination, there will be no State/Union Territory Quota for the final award of scholarship.

Application Form: You may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form. However, application form can be downloaded from NCERT website also. All correspondence relating to application forms should be addressed to the State Liaison Officers (LOs) whose addresses are given at the end/Website. After fill up the application form, it is signed by school Principal and submit to the LO/ concerned district official of the State before the last date.

Fees: States and Union Territories may notify required fee (refer NCERT website) which will be paid for the Stage-1examination. However, NCERT does not charge any fee for the Stage-2 examination.

Announcement of Results: Governments/ Union Territories the respective State will declare Stage-1examination result the respective State and NCERT will declare Stage-2 examination result.

Indian Students studying abroad can appear directly for Stage-2 NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure for class VIII which is available on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up applicable items in the Application Form available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination latest by March 15, 2010.

Scheme of testing:

  1. In Mental Ability Test (MAT) time duration 90minutes for 90 MCQ without options and its maximum mark is 100. Qualifying mark for general category is 40 and 32 mark for SC/ST/PC.
  2. In Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) time duration 90minutes for 90 MCQ without options and its maximum mark is 100. In 90 MCQ, there are 35 MCQs on Science, 20 MCQs on Mathematics and 35 MCQs on Social Science. Qualifying mark for general category is 40 and 32 mark for SC/ST/PC.
  3. In Interview has 15-20 minutes time duration with 25 marks.

Important point for NTSE:

  • Each question will carry 1 mark. The total marks will be 100 for each test.
  • The duration of the tests will remain the same i.e. 90 minutes each.
  • For first 90 questions in both SAT and MAT, the candidates have to put a cross mark (X) on the number of the correct alternative on the answer sheet against the corresponding question. For questions 91-100, the answers are to be written in the given space in the answer sheet.
  • Minimum qualifying marks will be 40% i.e. 40 marks for general category.
  • Minimum qualifying marks for reserved categories will be 32% i.e. 32 marks.
  • In SAT the first 90 items are divided into three areas – 35 for Science, 20 for Mathematics and 35 for Social Science. However, no separate sections are given in the test. The last 10 questions are mixed from different subjects.

About preparation of NTSE Examination:
According to announcement of NCERT the next NTSE will be held at the end of Class VIII. So Students can begin preparation at least when class VIII start.
