You are not eligible for federal student aid if you have:

  • A “Notice of Approval to Apply for Permanent Residence” (I-171 or I-464),
  • An F-1 or F-2 student visa,
  • A J-1 or J-2 exchange-visitor visa, or
  • A G series visa.

How do apply for federal student aid?

You can apply for Federal financial aid for free, it only allows you to complete and submit your financial aid application online.

  • You will also require income information such as tax returns and W-2 forms. And after that, you can fill up your application form between January 1 and June 30 of the following year to get federal student aid. You can apply only at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible on or after January 1.
  • After the submit Your FAFSA forms, check the status of your application at any time after the 1 week of the application, or 2-3 weeks after submission, if you printed, signed and mailed a signature page.
