The Institute of International Education (IIE) US is administering the Fulbright Foreign Student Program that provides fellowship to foreign students for study, research abroad in academic fields and for professional training in the creative and performing arts in the U.S. To enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge and talents, the Fulbright Program was established. The United States Government is pleased to announce the opportunity to 2010-2011 annual competition for three-month. Fulbright Student Fellowships are for graduate study in the United States leading to a Master‘s degree or a Ph.D. T.
From September, 2010, to May, 2011, the grant period for this cycle in most countries extends.
Applicants must:
- Have completed a Bachelor‘s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Master‘s degree program, or have a Master‘s degree from a recognized college or university for those applying to study in the U.S. for a Ph.D. program;
- Have a strong academic background and a record of excellence in previous studies;
- Be in good health and able to undergo a rigorous study program; and
- Have no previous study experience in the United States.
- Be proficient in English (minimum score of 570 on TOEFL or ITP, or 230 on computer-based TOEFL), or 88 on internet based TOEFL, or 7.0 on IELTS;
- Demonstrate ability to adapt readily to a foreign environment;
Who are not eligible for a Fulbright grant?
- Individuals who are currently studying, researching or lecturing at American universities.
- Individuals who intend to pursue an internship, residency or research at a U.S. school of medicine or dentistry.
- Individuals who are currently living and/or working in the United States, or who have had extensive recent experience in the United States.
2010-2011 Fulbright Research Scholarship Program:
For the 2010-2011 Fulbright Research Scholarship Program, the U.S. Embassy Dushanbe is now accepting applications. The program is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States of America and Tajikistan.

Application Procedure and Competition Schedule
October 2009 - Competition opens.
November 16, 2009 – Deadline for applicants to submit their curriculum vitae and one-page proposed research activity. After preliminary review, applicants who meet basic requirements and whose proposals are relevant to programs as outlined above will be sent program application forms.
January 4, 2010 – Deadline for submission of completed application.
End-January 2010 – Notification of candidacy by Embassy.
March/April 2010 – Notification of candidacy by Fulbright Scholarship Board, Washington D.C.
May/June 2010 – Confirmation of affiliation.
September 1, 2010 – June 30, 2011 – Departure for the United States.
For the United States, including tuition, fees and living expenses for full-time graduate study, Fulbright Student Fellowship grants provide round-trip transportation. Grant provisions do not include financial support for dependents.
