Asia’s first Space University IIST was founded in September 2007 under the Department of Space, Government of India.
IIST offers following posts for year 2010:
1. Assistant Professor:
- Microwave Components and Circuits
- Computer Network, Protocol
- Power Electronics Inertial System and Instrumentation
- Image Processing/ Pattern Recognition/ Computer Vision
Age Limit: 40 years
Education Qualification: B.E./ B.Tech or equivalent Degree in Electronics in First Class & M.E./ M.Tech in First Class and PhD in the relevant areas with significant research contribution.
2. Reader (on Contract):
1. Functional Analysis and Numerical Analysis:
Age Limit: 35 years as on 01.03.2010
Qualification: M.Sc. in Mathematics in First Class with a minimum aggregate of 65% or 6.5 CGPA and PhD in Mathematics (those who submitted the Thesis can also apply)
2. Soft Computing, Genetic Algorithm, Machine learning, Image Processing and Fuzzy Logic:
Qualification: M.Sc. in Mathematics in First Class with a minimum aggregate of 65% or 6.5 CGPA and PhD in Mathematics. [OR] B.Tech in Computer Science in First Class with a minimum aggregate of 65% or 6.5 CGPA and PhD in Computer Science (those who submitted the Thesis can also apply)
3. Scientist/ Engineer ‘SE’ in:
Computer System Administrator-cum-Manager:
Age Limit: 45 years
Qualification: B.E./ B.Tech or equivalent Degree in Electronics/ ECE/CSE in First Class with 8 years experience as a System/ Network Administrator in a large Computer Facility. [OR] M.E./ M.Tech in CSE First Class with 6 years experience as above.
Desirable: CCNA & RHCE Certificates.

Application form can be downloaded from IIST website and submitted electronically to website or by post to Administrative Officer, IIST, ATF Area, VSSC Campus, ISRO P.O Thiruvananthapuram – 695 022. Application should be superscribed as “Application for the post of with code. The code should be prominently filled in the space provided in the application form also”.
General Conditions:
- Only Indian Citizens can apply. Indian Citizens staying abroad can also apply.
- The Qualification and experience prescribed are minimum requirements and do not automatically make candidates eligible to be called for interview.
- Institute reserves the right not to fill up all or any of the posts.
- Age relaxation up to maximum of five years will be awarded for serving employees in Government institutions for posts 01 to 06.
