AP CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy dead in crash
The news of the tragedy that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has been killed, after his helicopter crashed in a dense swathe of forest known to be a stronghold of Maoist rebels. An hour after take off from Hyderabad, the radio contact were loss, also four other persons including CM were killed in the helicopter crashed in the Nallamalla forests.
Officials said that Rescuers found the helicopter on Thursday after it went missing for almost 24 hours. A PMO official in Delhi told IANS that the Army commandos have been recovered the dead bodies. And they will be taken to Hyderabad for postmortem.
The dead bodies of 60-year-old Reddy including his Secretary P Subramanyam, pilot Group Captain S K Bhatia, Chief Secretary A S C Wesley, and co-pilot M S Reddy were found on Rudrakonda Hill, 40 nautical miles east of Kurnool.
Helicopters, search parties and villagers had conducted the search in pouring rain for a whole day and night in the forested hinterland for the wreckage, which was finally located about 40 nautical miles east of Kurnool town.
When his Bell-430 helicopter went missing on Wednesday over a dense jungle, Reddy was on a tour of a rural district.
Popular known as YSR, the Chief Minister was going to Chittoor for a function, 588 km from this state capital, when his helicopter went missing in stormy weather around 9.30 a.m. Wednesday in the Nallamalla forests.
Andhra Pradesh Governor Narayan Dutt Tiwari told the Times Now news channel that he is extremely shocked…and also added that it is a very sad day.
