David Morse Biography:
David Morse is an elder son of Charles and Jacquelyn Morse. He is well known for his role as the amiable Dr. Jack ‘Boomer’ Morrison which played by him in the long-running TV drama St. Elsewhere. His stage career started in the Circle Repertory Theatre in New York. With John Savage, he made his theatrical film debut in Richard Donner’s acclaimed drama Inside Moves in 1980.
In 1981, with a small role in the ABC movie “Our Family Business”, David Morse’s TV career was started. The two episodes in the 1987-88 season of the show were directed by David Morse. During that series’ run, David Morse also appeared in six dramatic TV-movies. In the Oscar nominated Sci-Fi drama Contact (1997), he co-starred as opposite Jodie Foster and young Jena Malone.
David Morse appeared with Tom Hanks in Stephen King’s “The Green Mile” in 1999. After one year, he played a supporting role as a kidnapped husband of Meg Ryan in “Proof of Life”. For the Golden Horse Award, Morse became the first English-speaking actor nominated, the Chinese equivalent of the Oscars, for his superb performance as FBI expert “Kevin Richter” in Shuang tong (2002).
In the TV series “Hack”, David Morse had a regular gig starring as “Mike Olshansky”, an ex-Philadelphia policeman turned cab driver between 2002 – 2004. The series ran for three seasons and was filmed in Philadelphia close to his home. In Emmy award-winning medical drama “House M.D”, David Morse has a recurring role on season 3, in 2006-2007.
David Morse has been married to Susan Wheeler Duff and they have three children, a daughter and twin sons. In 1994, his home was destroyed by the Northridge earthquake, then he moved with his family from LA to Philadelphia. Currently David Morse is living in Philly.
