Martin Luther King, Jr. was took birth on 15 Jan, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia of US. He was the son of the Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr. and Alberta Williams King. His parents were college-educated, Martin Luther King, Jr., was firstly named “Michael King, Jr.,” which on his father’s real name. For certain reason of traveled to Europe in 1934 King’s father and they was changed name as a Martin in honor of the German Protestant leader Martin Luther. He had an older sister, Willie Christine King, and a younger brother Alfred Daniel Williams King. In the age of fifteen; Martin Luther King received the B. A degree in sociology from Morehouse College. King married with Coretta Scott, on June 18, 1953. They had four children two sons and two daughters. There named are Yolanda King, Martin Luther King III, Dexter Scott King, and Bernice King.
After graduated in theological study at Morehouse College he enrolled in Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania where he was elected as a president of a predominantly white senior class, he was awarded as the B. D ( Bachelor of Divinity) in 1951.Then they was began doctoral studies in systematic theology at Boston University and received his Doctor of Philosophy on June 5, 1955. After considering careers in medicine and law, he entered the ministry. While studying at Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania, King heard a lecture on Mahatma Gandhi and the nonviolent civil defiance movement that he used successfully against British rule in India.
Both his father and grandfather were Baptist preachers who had been actively involved in the civil rights movement. King read books on the ideas of Gandhi became influenced that the same methods could be in use by blacks to achieve civil rights in America. He was also struck by Gandhi’s words: “Through our pain we will make them see their injustice”. After his marriage with Coretta Scott, King became minister of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. His leadership was essential to that movement’s success in ending the legal separation of African Americans in the South and other parts of the United States.
In 1957,king increased to national importance through the association of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, serving as a first president. In 1964, King was received the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end national separation and national discrimination through civil defiance and other non-violent way. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day was recognized as a U.S. national holiday in 1986.
