The former CBS’s first reality TV series “Survivor” winner Richard Hatch was arrested again on Tuesday August 18 after he appeared on the Today show interview. He was arrested Tuesday for a domestic dispute allegedly involving an ex-boyfriend. He is homosexual, insisted he is innocent of the tax-evasion charges and asserted anti-gay bias drove his action and conviction.
Richard Hatch said in his “The Today Show” interview that he had been discriminated by judge in his tax evasion case because of his homosexuality. The police spokesman Lt. Barry Smith says that, his warrant was issued for Hatch’s arrest after the victim filed a complaint Monday.
Richard had also spent nearly four years in custody in prison for tax evasion. He was winner of $1 million dollar of the first season of ‘Survivor’ TV series in 2000. He was promised to pay taxes on the $1 million prize. He was given extra prison time for lying on the stand. His former U.S. Attorney Robert Clark Corrente was handled his case, has called him “delusional.”
He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and was ordered to return to court on Sept. 7 for a pretrial conference. Hatch had been scheduled to be released from house arrest on Oct. 7. His sister said to the media, that there are numerous reasons why an inmate might be transferred from house arrest to jail.
