American alpine ski racer, Lindsey Vonn dubs as a “America’s Best Woman Skier Ever” on the cover of Sports Illustrated Issues. Lindsey photos have always heated up a cold mountain top. But the recent issue of the Sports Illustrated is back up on top. On this cover, Vonn is captured in a semi-provocative pose in a skin-tight skiing jumpsuit. The Sports Illustrated cover is already getting plenty of attention.
Lindsey Vonn slope slayers and the publication are coming under the fire from women’s rights activists who are painful with the “objectifying” pose the Olympian struck for the S.I. cover shot. The Lindsey Vonn S. I. cover comes with some raising a few eyebrows with the positioning of the subject. She gave different pose comparatively with other.
The latest issue of S.I. will be released on 8th Feb and Vonn’s first race is on Feb 14th. She is the most decorated American female alpine skier ever and is being pushed as America’s star at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. The sports illustrated cover will be just the beginning for Vonn if she is able to detain five gold medals in Vancouver.
Vonn is the first American woman to win world cup championships, held in 2008 and 2009 and also win the Cup discipline championships in downhill and Super G. Lindsey Vonn has won 4 disciplines and two World Championship gold medals with 31 World Cup.
From womentalksports.com:
“Vonn is first a GREAT athlete, but she also represents norm of feminine attractiveness. The combination of athleticism and attractiveness make Vonn the likely poster girl of the US Olympic Team and the media hasn’t disappointed in constructed her as such.
Over the last 60 years researchers have shown that about 4% of all SI covers have portrayed women. When females are featured on the cover of SI, they are more likely than not to be in sexualized poses and not in action-and the most recent Vonn cover is no exception.”
