Haiti Earthquake Disaster

Haiti Earthquake Disaster was recorded as the largest disaster which destroyed almost every part of the Haiti. The earthquake was attacked early morning on 12th of January 2010 in the small island nation of Haiti. The quake occurred at 16:53 local time which had a magnitude of 7.0. The communication facilities were stopped because of earthquake. According to the International Red Cross estimate about three million people were affected by the quake.

The disaster would eventually claim between 100,000 and 200,000 lives, which Haitian Interior Minister, Paul Antoine Bien-Aimé, anticipated on 15 January. As of 24 January, Haitian authorities confirmed that they had buried 150,000 people. There are lots of buildings were significantly damaged including the Presidential Palace, the National Assembly building, the Port-au-Prince Cathedral, and the main jail.

    Devastation in a poor country like Haiti is always felt harder, I just hope they put future processes in place to reduce the exposure to negative impacts as a result of earthquakes and other natural and non natural disasters. Adam
