Danny Gokey was born on April 24, 1980. His original name is Daniel Jay “Danny” Gokey. In July 2008, Gokey was selected in audition for American Idol. His wife Sophia died because of problem concerning the extensive surgery of congenital heart disease. He is also famous as Idol with the tragedy. Now he is working on Sophia’s Heart foundation. This foundation helps disadvantaged children.

Danny said about his decision related to country album, “Country music kind of houses the message that I like … and it carries a lot of meaning for me. So I never thought about it before, but I could see myself doing it, if we could just get the twang right.” By this album, he proves that after losing on Idol all is not lost.
