After hearing the new version i felt like i am watching a Sci-Fi bollywood movie music composed by Micheal Jakson. Please don’t recreate our old national integration songs. Channels please broadcast the old classic song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara”.

    Very Bad Version
It was 1988 when Mile sur mera tumhara was broadcast on Doordarshan. It quickly became a cult song that reflected the theme of national integration. Conceptualised by veteran adman, the late Suresh Mullick, Mile sur mera tumhara was one of the three films in the ‘Freedom Trilogy’ that consisted of ‘Freedom Torch’, ‘Mile Sur’, and ‘Desh Raag’.
Former colleagues and friends of Mullick have compiled a tribute to him, with anecdotes that recount their fondest memories of Mullick during their time together. The tribute, which is available to view as an online link as well as PDFs.
“This collection of tributes, anecdotes and observations on Mullick has been long in coming. Finally, a nucleus of those present at the 2008 Ogilvy Alumni meet, in Mumbai, resolved to get the project going again. A group comprising of R Sridhar, Farida Sabnavis, Anil Uzgare, Roda Mehta, Suguna Swamy and a few others got down to work. What follows is their collective effort. It reflects the sentiments of Suresh’s friends, wide-eyed admirers, and fellow countrymen who were his colleagues at S H Benson and Ogilvy & Mather over a span of 38 years,” says S R (Mani) Iyer in the introduction. Iyer was the former managing director of O&M and Mullick’s long-time partner.
“The amazing thing is the outpuring of contributions from all who knew Suresh. He was a writer, art director, artist, typographer, cameraman, musicologist of exceptional talent in all genres, humanist and an irreverent and brilliant wit- so I guess his genius touched everybody he met in some way or the other,” commented Suguna Swamy, creative consultant, Ogilvy & Mather, Chennai.
Those who have contributed to the tributes include Anvar Alikhan, S R (Mani) Iyer, Ranjan Kapur, Piyush Pandey, Suguna Swamy, R Sridhar, Geeta Rao, Kailash Surendranath, Vijay Bhat, Prasoon Joshi, Louiz Banks, Farida Sabnavis and Madhukar Sabnavis among others.

‘Phir Mile ‘ – Too much Bollywood – what are they patriotically famous for? Conversely, we have excluded famous personalities like Dr APJ Kalam, Tendulkar, the Common Man, the Common Soldier.

What the hell is this??? Just another Bolly flick.!!

Why the hell is Deepika there and what is she doing with those nude legs? Where are our real legends like Sachin, Anil Kumble (from Karnataka for his 10 wicket haul?), Rathore, P.T. Usha, Tata’s, Ambani’s, former President Abdul Kalam, Lata Mangeshkar.. The list of the greats can go on and on.. instead of which, these undeserving bollywood personalities were taken..!!

  12. By Akshat at 27th January, 2010

Why do you need these “22 Bolly stars” at all???

How do they really personify our dignity and diversity? What kind of global impact have they really made??

One should never attempt an iconic song like this, and when it is attempted, every care must be taken not to lose the impact.!

This song should be shelved at the earliest, before it humiliates us anymore.! This song has made us more ashamed than proud.!!

I love the old song, but am willing to embrace the new one…i remember growing up watching the song. All my family members stop whatever they are doing to watch the song as soon as they hear the starting notes, and I have been assured that this is the case in most households.

The new song has a splatter of Bollywood, and too few sportsperson, and no scientists. That put me off for a while, but I think, for the same song to connect with the coming generation, the revamp was much needed. We love the song as we have sentimental attachment to it, but new technology and new instruments, new people, will be able to identify with the new generation.

Only in that way, can this wonderful song continue to inspire as it did all these years!

This just represents the Bollywood….where are the real stars of our country…they all are missing in this….

Old Mile Sur is really nice and it represents our nation….unity in diversity….

What the hell this song is ?
Why there are so many bolywood stars. There are no real life Heros as Doctors, enginners, farmers, industriallist, sportsman like Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Narayan Murti, M.S. Dhoni, Saniya Mirza etc. in the song. Why dipika is showing her legs and in a bad dress? We Indians felt very bad when we see this song on Republic day. We request to Indian Television Industry not to broadcast this song. We will like to see the old is gold song of 1988. Please broadcast that song only. Not this bloody song.
