need of the hour is a diesel version wt mileage around 19 kmpl. dont buy the petrol version. It wud certainly b a waste. Seems like maruti has been in a hurry to release this car. A gud diesel version wt added features like power steering, audio, rear a/c vent, central locking, remote boot opening, tubeless tyres, power windows wt a price tag of Rs. 6.25 lakhs will b a DEFINITE HIT wt Indian customers. Wait and watch. A diesel version shud b on the way by oct 2010. That wud slowly replace indica cab, omni, sumo and the near extinct versa and qualis.

Car looks good, but again its a Petrol version , Maruti should concentrate on making Diesel vehicles , that is the necessity now , Petrol is good , but if this was an Diesel , must have created a havoc in the Automobile market.

This is the best new year gift by suzuki to the middle class Indian people. maruti has the reputation of providing excellent service and products. maruti should upgrade this car to LPG,CNG and diesel versions, even the Electric and hybrid versions will be a great hit. it is a great spacious car not less than a suv. the price of this car is down to earth, middle class Indians will find thia As A cherry on cake.

I think maruti should hire design engineerings from its competitors and come with some outstanding designs. This eeco is no different from versa. The seating is as lousy as the looks. You don’t feel you are sitting in a big vehicle. Wake up maruti and revamp your engineering team. Give them a pink slip and hire more creative guys.

I just got it test driven horrible handling wholly underpowered K series engine 1.2L I doubt if it gives even 8kmpl fully stressed engine with 5 people on board no one can turn the vehicle at 90 from stand still since no power steering technology for this heavy vehicle availablke with suzuki engineers who seem to be taking India for a ride .Watch out for boulder, dividers hitting engine sump ,gear box housings made of low grade alumium might crack burning a big hole in your pockets as both are exposed at lowest level underneath as due to rear wheel drive where suzuki engineers goofed up as incase of climbing into the vehicle like a truck , very difficult for elderly people as no foot board provided and wheel size has been increased to save engine case from bottom hitting uneven roads as happened in older versa.
Very cheap quality seats for front no adjustable head rest very thin foam no wrap round the body design like local govt bus seats , only driver side seat is reclining and sliding not co passenger seat
and rear seats donot recline nor fold so space of this vehicle is of no use to any one .another goof up is poorly welded plate on luggage cabin to accomodate six and seventh seat ,this spoils the whole space as the platform of vehicle is divided into two cabins at two levels unlike omni.
DSA so called for diagonal shift is a gimmick ,shift is pretty hard like mahindra willy;s jeep try it to believe, synchromesh I really wonder is working here or not.Driving this in city is like drving a Tata sumo without power steering where in sumo weighs more than 1600 kgs but this vehicle is around 1000Kgs .Front imact aborbing beams have been missing as the crumple zone structure.side impact beams I am yet to open and measure for structure and size.hence i can not comment.
As for 1.2 L engine piston slap of 1.3 has been carried forward as suzuki trade mark in midrange during engine stress not heard in Tata Indica nor Hyundai ,fiat, engines
door trimmings have been removed from versa to reduce cost and made to look more wider inside or to say fooling Indians.
Yes no collapsible steering column either .so tosay all the safety norms as usual haveen thrown in air
and we Indians buy any shit produced by suzuki all due to their strong sales and service backup

  12. By modest at 11th February, 2010

good design (copy cat) showing us the versa in new colour’s again think indians are fools,
why dont u fix a auto meter to it and replace the auto rickshaw & taxi traffic in mumbai,
as the petrol price going to increase again in like every month rise in prices of petrol,
pls manifacture the eeco in diesel version for heaven sake, so that not only the rich can enjoy a car ride even the middle class can enjoy, if its diesel or LPG

    thank you
pls remake the eeco in diesel

I have booked one 5 seater. After seeing the comments I am worried if I have done mistake.I have Wagon R VXI for family use.Wanted to use EECO for commercial purpose. But I am now confused.A diesel verson with power steering could solve the matter as it seems.

I drove EECO and found following pros and cons :

Pros : Very smooth steering, considering the fact that it is not power steering. Way beyond Omni’s steering. I noticed the engine noise is almost nil, inspite of the engine is below the driver seat. For the value of 3.2 lakhs on road, you get a family car with 5 or 7 seater and tubeless tyres. Fuel economy of 14 kmpl is reasonable for this size of car. Power with AC on is reasonable and not as bad as Maruti 800. No vibration. Leg space at the second row is reasonable and a person of 6′ height can sit without hitting his knee to front seat. The last row can accomodate persons with 5’8″ max and beyond that is compromise. Anyway … guys this is positioned for ecomonomy and who can buy a spacious 5 seater or compat 7 seater at 3.25 lakhs.

Cons : As usual cheap interiors, which is obvious for this low mid class car. Head rest is required for the middle and last seat considering the safety aspect. But these can be customized with nominal addl cost. Non reclining seat for co-passenger seat is a BIG disappointment. Maruti must consider giving a comfortable seats. I expected better cushion at rear considering the fact that this is with coil spring, unlike omni’s leaf spring. The ride is bumpy at the 2nd row. Maruti must consider this aspect and do something to make it smooth.

My over all view : Person who cannot afford to spend more than 4 lakhs for a 7 seater can go for this vehicle. Lots of comments about diesel varient in this. Keep in mind that diesel may not be feasible in this design as the engine compartment is below the seat, which will cause vibration & generate more heat. Those who want more comfortable seats at 2nd row, can customize the seat with bucket seat.

Best Buy as family car will be : go for 5 seater with AC, customize 2nd row with head rest with cushion on seat. Add 2 babby seat behind the 2nd row. This will be handy to travel 6 adults or 5 adults with 2 kids. Else the last seat can be folded to side and use for luggage. with these customization it may cost about 3.5 lakhs max which worth.

Whether it is copy cat from Versa or upgraded Omni, the fact is it is a budget Van for big size mid income people.
