Chairman of Satyam Computers, B Ramalinga Raju had a heart attack at 8 pm on Monday 7th September, 2009. After the Heart attack he was taken to government-owned Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) at Panjagutta. He was immediately taken to the ICU. Now his condition is said to be stable.
Doctor of NIMS said that he was suffering from a light chest infection but his lawyer Bharat Kumar said that he had a heart attack. According to source, Raju is already suffering from Hepatitis B and is being treated for the same. Before the attack, he lodged in Hyderabad’s Chanchalguda prison along with seven other blamed in connection with the Rs.78 billion ($1.43 billion) accounting fraud in Satyam.
Raju has been arrested since January 9 when he admitted to commit fraud to the tune of Rs. 7800 crore. His younger brother, chief financial officer Vadlamani Srinivas, three other employees of Satyam and two auditors are also in prison.
Recently, the court allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation to conduct brain mapping and Lie Detector tests for the three defendants to find out where the missing money has gone.
