The Real Spiderman : Alain Robert

Alain Robert is a rock and urban climber, his nickname is “Spiderman”. He has become the “French Spiderman” after scaling the highest buildings in the world. Alain Robert is best known for his climbing over 70 of the world’s tallest and famous buildings including the Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower, Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Opera House in Sydney, and Canary Wharf in London’s Docklands.

His buildering career began at the age of 12 when he forgot his keys and was locked out of his parents’ eighth-floor apartment. He is only using his bare hands and climbing shoe. Many of his climb provide him no opportunity to rest and can last over an hour. He was suffered two accidents with multiple fractures in 1982 at the age of 19. His ascent of the Sears Tower (443 meters) in Chicago made a great impact on the televisions in 1999.

In 2008 Alain Robert climbing to the top of a 52-storey Manhattan tower in New York City to protest about climate change and was arrested by police on the roof. He was also pulled into police custody after climbing to the top of the 41storey Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in Sydney on June 2009.

Recently on April 2, 2009, during the 2009 G-20 London summit he climbed to the 9th floor of the Lloyd’s building and unfurled a 100ft banner declaring that there were 100 months left to save the planet. Read more about Alain Robert Here.
