9th Annual BET Awards Pay Tribute To Michael Jackson

The 9th Annual BET (Black Entertainment Television) Awards 2009 show was held on Sunday evening, June 28, 2009, at Los Angeles’s Shrine Auditorium. This show was centered on paying Tribute to late King of Pop Michael Jackson who passed away on June 25, 2009 from cardiac arrest. The BET Awards kicked off with a musical tribute to Michael Jackson at last night.

The BET Awards give annually honor to African American singers, actresses, actors and athletes and this year is transformed into a tribute for the pop superstar. The show was hosted by Academy Award-winning actor and R&B singer Jamie Foxx entered to Michael’s 1983 smash “Beat It” who wore the singer’s trademark red leather jacket from his “Thriller” years, cropped black pants and a single white glove.

Michael’s sister Janet Jackson was appeared at the BET Awards last night who was dressed in a flowing white pantsuit; she walked to center stage with Jamie Fox. Janet Jackson told the crowed at the end of the show, “My complete family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful. To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family and he will perpetually live in our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself thank you for your love and support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”

Michael Jackson’s father Joe Jackson was attended 2009 BET awards. He was on hand as a special guest of the show. He wore a dark suit with sunglasses and matching hat. Joe told press on hand, “I wish the world had recognized him when he was living. Right now, he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.”
