India’s one of the most important national events is Republic Day, which is celebrated on January 26th every year. The constitution of India came into force and India became a truly Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state on January 26th, 1950. On 26th of January, finally India enjoyed the freedom of spirit, rule of law and fundamental principle of governance. On this day, the nationalistic passion of the Indian people brings the whole country together even in their embedded variety. On the occasion of 26th January all the Government buildings are enlightened lending the city the atmosphere of a fairyland. This day is celebrated with more fanaticism and pride all across the nation.
Republic Day is celebrated most regally in the capital, New Delhi, where symbols of the great nation’s military might and cultural wealth are displayed in the world’s most impressive parade. In these parade only those children take part, who win the National Bravery Award for the year. This parade also comprises other vibrant displays and floats and traditionally ends with a fly-past by Indian Air Force jets. The grand parade consists of floats exhibiting the cultures of the various states and regions of India, which is broadcasted nationwide on television and radio. The Army, the Navy and the Air Force’s different regiments march past in all their finery and official decorations. The Prime minister of India Man Mohan Singh takes the salute, and India’s president Pratibha Patil takes the salute also, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces.
