Professional basketball player Yao Ming had married with his beautiful long time girlfriend and former China women’s national basketball team player Ye Li on Monday, August 6, 2007. Their marriage ceremony was held in a five-star Shangri-La hotel in his hometown of Shanghai. The private wedding ceremony was attended by only 70 family members, friends and relatives that were closed to the media. The couple had received their official marriage certificate in Shanghai. According to Zhang, the ceremony was of three hours, included exchange of rings, offering tea and flowers to parents to express gratitude, and sharing of a wedding cake. Yao is 29 years old and 2.29-meter-tall (7 ft 6 in) and his bride, Ye Li is 28-year-old and 1.90-meter-tall (6 ft 3 in). The couple had met each other when he was of 17 years old. First their relationship was shown to public when the couple appeared together during the Olympics closing ceremony in 2004. The pictures were taken secretly at Tai Huyuan Resort, Zhejiang Province in eastern China.
Yao Ming is famous professional basketball player, and at present he is the tallest NBA player. He plays for the Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is now one of the China’s best-known athletes. Yao had wrote an autobiography with ESPN and NBA sportswriter Ric Bucher, with entitled “Yao: A Life in Two Worlds” in 2004.
The latest news about Yao Ming and Ye Li is that they are expecting their first child. According to Yao’s China-based spokesman Zhang Chi told AFP, “The news that Ye Li is pregnant is true.
