The Navratri festival Recipes have special courses and is strictly vegetarian. Special Navratri cuisine is a part of the multitude of culinary delights. People observe fast during Navratri and at sunset, eat only one time meal a day. Due to their foul smell, onion and garlic are also not allowed in the meal. One can eat milk, curd, fruits and nuts due to Spices are restricted to red chilies, turmeric and cumin seeds and only rock salt can be used.
SABUDANA VADA
Sabudana vada is a very delicious variety and easy to make. It is liked by all specially children. It has to be eaten in fast.
Ingredients:
- 1 potato (boiled, peeled and mashed),
- 1 cup sago,
- 7-8 green chilies (crushed),
- 1/2 cup peanuts roasted (crushed coarsely),
- Rock salt to taste
- Oil to deep fry.
Method:
Take a bowl wash the sago in it thoroughly and drain excess water. Put it aside for 2 to 3 hours for soaking. When it is completely soaked add potato, green chilies and peanut roasted. Mix it properly, now add salt and mix well into a paste. Take a pan, put oil in it and keep it on heat. Moist the hand and put the mixture on it. Make them small flat, slide the rounds, in a proper shape. Now put them in heated oil on medium flame and fry them till they become crispy and light brown in color. Using a sieve type ladle, drain them well. Now the sabudana vada is ready, serve it with peanut chutney and enjoy.
