In simple language our pulse is our heartbeat. Our heart rate calculates how many times our heart beats in a minute. You can know whether you are fit or not, from measurement of heart rate. Pulse rates differ in every person; it is lower when you do exercise or take rest because more oxygen-rich blood is needed by the body. Normal pulse rate usually is 60 to 100 beats per minute, but it also depends on the person’s age and fitness level. If we check our pulse rate regular we can make sure that our heart is normal and detect changes in body temperature. Normal pulse rate for human depends on several factors, such as age, sex, weight, lifestyle, and fitness Level.

How to Calculate Pulse Rate?

  1. Place 2 fingers of your left hand on the artery on the inside of your wrist, below your thumb.
  2. The thumb has its own pulse that you may feel and hence do not use it.
  3. When the clock’s second hand is on the 12 you can begin counting the pulse.
  4. Count your pulse for 60 seconds or 30 seconds and multiply by 2.
  5. Concentrate on the beats of the pulse when counting and do not watch the clock continuously, but
  6. Ask another person to count for you if unsure about your result
