White chili is not what you would expect in red chili. The color and texture of white chili is not ordinary but once you start cooking with it you will love the flavor it emits. There are quiet a lot of vegetarian and meat based recipes that you could try with white chili. Here are a few chicken based recipes that your taste buds would relish and can be cooked up without much difficulty.

White Chicken Chili Recipes

White Chicken Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. canola oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 15 oz. cans cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 15 oz. can navy beans, drained and rinsed
  • 3 cups cooked, diced Rotisserie chicken meat
  • 1 4 oz. can diced white chili
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • kosher salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (optional)
  • 4 sliced green onions (optional)

How to cook

Heat oil over medium heat in a dutch oven or heavy saucepan. Add onion and garlic. Cook 2-3 minutes. Process one cup chicken broth and 1 can cannellini beans in a blender or food processor until smooth. Add to onion, white chili and garlic mixture. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then turn heat down to medium-low. Simmer 20-30 minutes.

Garnish with shredded cheese and onions and serve with sweet cornbread. Serves 8.

Chicken in White Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced jalapeno peppers
  • 1 (4 ounce) can chopped white chili
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
  • 3 cups chopped cooked chicken breast
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans white beans
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

How to cook

  • Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Slowly cook and stir the onion until tender. Mix in the garlic, jalapeno, white chili, cumin, oregano and cayenne. Continue to cook and stir the mixture until tender, about 3 minutes. Mix in the chicken broth, chicken and white beans. Simmer 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the mixture from heat. Slowly stir in the cheese until melted. Serve warm.

White Chili Chicken Broth

Ingredients

  • large onion chopped (about 1 cup)
  • 1 clove garlic finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 4 cups chicken pieces
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons snipped cilantro or parsley
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil leaves
  • 2 teaspoons ground red chillies
  • 1 (4 ounce) can chopped white chili
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 can sweet corn

How to cook

Saute onion and garlic in butter over low heat, stirring until lightly browned. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour. Stir occasionally. Serve topped with fresh chopped tomatoes, sour cream and chips. Serves 6.

Hot white chicken chili

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 cooked, boneless chicken breast half, chopped
  • 3 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
  • 2 (4 ounce) white chili, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 5 (14.5 ounce) cans great Northern beans, un drained
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

How to cook

  • Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and saute for 10 minutes, or until onions are tender. Add the chicken, chicken broth, white chili, cumin, oregano and cayenne pepper and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and add the beans. Simmer for 20 to 30 minutes, or until heated thoroughly. Pour into individual bowls and top with the cheese.

    how much time will it take for white chicken chili recipe on the stove? Chili needs to cook slowly, so i expect little more time.
