Smithsonian Folklore Festival 2009 – Washington, DC (USA)

The Smithsonian Folklore Festival is held on June 24 to June 28, 2009 and July 15, 2009 at 11:00 am to 5:30 pm, evening procedures start at 5:30 pm. The Event is a unique occasion supporter every June-July by the Center for Folk life and Cultural Heritage celebrating cultural traditions around the world. The Folklore Festival includes in daily evening music and dance performance.

The Folklore Festival 2009 Themes program will be: Giving Voice: The Power of Words in African American Culture, The Americas: A Musical World and Wales Smithsonian Cymra. The Folklore Festival is held during the warmest time of year in Washington, DC. Plan ahead, drink lots of water and dress correctly. The food is great and reflects the themes of the festival. Texas Folklore Festival 2009 – USA

The 38th Annual Texas Folklore Festival was took place in San Antonio, Texas, US. The Folklore Festival was held on 12th June to 14th June 2009. More than 40 different cultural groups in Texas were taken part in this festival. The Texas Folklore Festival is a celebration of the culture and heritage to be found in Texas. There were entertainment, ethnic food, activities, dance and carnival rides, crafts and much more.

Children are enjoy festival rides, learning to clog, storytelling and demonstrations of ‘fancy roping’ with a lasso. The Texas Folklore Festival was Located on the ground of the institute of Texan Cultures on the UTSA HemisFair Park Campus.

Canadian-Croatian Folklore Festival

Once again, Folklore Festival 2009 brought big and wholehearted crowds of Festival visitors to this 36th wonderful Canadian multicultural carnival. Canadian-Croatian Folklore Festival is an occasion celebrating by Croatian Folklore and legacy with a weekend of performances. Croatian groups participate in the yearly occasion.

Canadian-Croatian Folklore Festival is traditionally held on the Victoria Day long Weekend, to allow for 3 days of celebrations. There is an Eastern and Western edition of festival. The Eastern festival was started in 1975 and the Western festival started in 1978. The Groups perform Croatian kolo dances, as well as traditional Croatian music, which is characterized by the Tamburica.

International Folklore Festival Sofia 2009 – Bulgaria

The 2nd International Folklore Festival Sofia will be held on 16th July to 20th July 2009 in Sofia, Bulgaria. This festival coordinator is the Capital’s Municipal Council – Sofia, Bulgaria. The committee of association undertakes all expenses that are connected with the ensembles’ stay in Sofia during the festival – accommodation and food.

   The Himalayan kingdom of Nepal the country of Mount Everest is recognized all over the world by its cultural heritage. Even though the country is very small it has cultural and geographical diversity. The country is melting pot of folklore and folk cultural. Every ethnic group has their own cultural, tradition, folk music, song and folk dances. It is very essential to preserve these traditional folk/classic music and arts in this modern age. This reality has been realized by a group of Nepalese artist and established an organization Nepalaya Folk Art Forum.
   The Forum is registered as a non profit, non governmental organization with an aim of preserving and promoting the traditional folk music, song and dances of Nepal. To achieve this goal we are participating international cultural festivals and folk festivals. We are also organizing national and international cultural events in Nepal as well.
   The most of the promoter member of the club is senior folk artists of Nepal who have been participating and performing in various international folk festivals since last 15 years.
   To promote the traditional folk cultural among the Nepalese youth new generation we have been conducting the training center. More than 200 new young member of the forum have been learning about the folk and classical song, Music and the Dance of Nepal in our training center. Moreover our senior members are working as a Music and Dance Teacher in various schools.
   In our Forum there are 8 – 15 years old and disabled children group also. We will perform all the classic and folk music, song and dances of Nepal.
