Hong Kong has a special status as a Special Administrative Region (SAR) so Hong Kong has different holiday dates from China public holidays. General Holidays Ordinance of Hong Kong sets the Public holidays in Hong Kong. Workers are allowed to get rest from work, during public holidays on special occasions. If a designated public holiday takes place on a Sunday or on the same day of another holiday, then the immediate following weekday would be a public holiday, according to Hong Kong laws. Nevertheless, there are exceptions; for example, as Lunar New Year 2010 falls on a Sunday (14 February 2010), the government have designated the Saturday directly before (13 February 2010) as a public holiday.
