The Indiana State Fairgrounds had held band day activities on Friday, August 7th 2009 in Indianapolis, IN. The most prestigious and exciting band contest had kicked off the Indiana State Fair at 9am.
The Fair band day 2009 began with 44 Hoosier high schools showcasing their marching bands at Indianapolis.
There were a huge audience at band contest with thousands of parents, band boosters and fairgoers packing the grandstand.
Director Andy Earnest told that the goal of this year was not the trophy but to give his 26 musicians a taste of performing on a larger scale.
North Daviess Junior-Senior High School spiced up its medley from quirky film-score composer Danny Elfman by dressing the percussion section as Beetlejuice, the rest of the musicians as zombies, and the color guard with Spider-Man-style webbing on their arms.
Muncie South wore more traditional T-shirts but with a performance with a financial meltdown-themed show titled “Back to Business,” the shirts feature drawn-on neckties and pocket squares. Watch more pictures of Indiana state fair band day 2009.
