This year’s program of Manchester International Festival 2009 will be performed with full of world class music, art, theater and performances. It will be started from 2nd to 19th July 2009. It is the world’s first international festival, which has a different new work and special events.

There are many free events and festival zone in the centre of the city. A variety of shows will be offered at the Pavilion theatre and special guests will arrive to see these events. Some of the names taking part in this event are Rufus Wainwright, Punchdrunk, Marina Abramovic, Kraftwerk, and The Halle Orchestra, Carlos Acosta, Damon Albarn, Gustav Metzger.

Few outlines of the Manchester International Festival 2009 are as follows:

  • Wigan International Jazz Festival has provided a stage for some of the world’s greatest big bands from last 23 years and this year also they will provide it from 11th to 18th July.
  • The visitors are welcomed at Manchester’s Museums and Galleries as there is free entrance to all and they can experience all the major international exhibitions during July.
  • A fresh edge arts festival will celebrated Manchester’s exceptional culture scene and “Not Part Of” is a unique edge of the Manchester International Festival.

The Manchester International Festival 2009 includes the following free events:

  • Manchester’s extensive meal is the unique chance to taste the city through five special dishes prepared by internationally prominent cooking experts in partnership with chefs from local communities.
  • March past (Parade) will be done by Turner Prize-winner Jeremy Deller with the Deansgate mile. This parade is different from the all other parades made at Manchester ever before.
  • The Great Indoors is back with a band and new adventures. It is the world of events and activities done by only 3 to 11 years old children, who have given tremendous international performances. For more details of the show click here.
