Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest Winner 2009

The 94th annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 2009 is held on July 4 every year in Convey Island, Brooklyn, New York. This event is regarded as the world’s famous hot dog contest and a colorful tradition of Independence Day in the United States.

The annual July 4th event will be televised live on ESPN at 12 noon. Joey Chestnut won the hot dog crown for a second time last year. There is a tough competition this year between American Joey Chestnut and former winner Takeru Kobayashi of Japan.

It is estimated that 30,000 fans will come to visit the show at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island. Last year Chestnut and Kobayashi were tied at 59 hot dogs and buns at the end of the 10 minute contest. An overtime round was held to settle the contest where Chestnut beat Kobayashi by finishing off five hot dogs and buns in shorter amount of time. A prize of $10,000 will be given to the winner and $5,000 will be given to the runner-up and other top eight eaters will also be given cash prizes.
