National Memorial Day is celebrated by the United States on the last Monday of May each year. It is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service to the country. It was celebrated on May 30, 1868 to rememorize the sacrifices of civil war soldier by General John A.
General James Garfield made a speech on national celebration at Arlington National Cemetery and where around 5,000 participants helped to decorate the graves of the more than 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers who were buried there. This event inspired to local people and they had been celebrated a day as “Memorial Day”
Memorial Day is celebrated at Arlington National Cemetery each year with a ceremony in which a small American flag is placed on each grave. By tradition the President or Vice President puts wreath at the Tomb of the Soldier. About 5,000 people attend the ceremony annually. We must give support to our soldiers and their families who are need and deserve our care in this time of crisis.
