Yesterday, Virgin Mobile made announcement that it would host the 2009 Virgin Mobile “FreeFest” event on Sunday August 30, 2009 at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia. It is the USA Company and the creator of one of the largest music in the country.
The main motto of this festival is to donate to youth homeless centers around the country in this bad economy and it will host a special VIP seating area for those who will give their time and participate in community service.
Many well-known music bands will performed in this event like Weezer, Blink-182, Franz Ferdinand, Public Enemy, Jet, The National, Girl Talk, The Bravery, The Hold Steady, St. Vincent, Wale and Taking Back Sunday.
This year’s event will be called as “FreeFest” as festival is holding a free admission to goers. Tickets will be given to the public on Saturday June 27 at 10 a.m. Previous ticket holders and Virgin Mobile clients will be invited by email. The numbers of ticket buyers will be estimated more than 35000. Festival will host a special VIP seating area for those who will give their time and participate in community service at selected destitute youth shelters around the country.
Founder and president of Virgin Group Sir Richard Branson said in a statement, “In a time of economic challenges and daily sacrifices, we wanted to throw a fantastic party so people could let loose and have a great time – on us. Virgin Mobile FreeFest offers music fans a brilliant day of fun and music and a chance for them to give back to those even less fortunate.“
