On the first day of Chaitra month, festival Gudhi Padwa is celebrated by Maharashtrians and Hindu Konkanis. Gudhi Padwa is celebrated as New Year’s Day. Gudhi Padwa is a same day when great king Shalivahana beat-out Sakas in fight. This festival always held in the month of April/March. Gudhi Pudwa is one day celebration. This day is the first day of Marathi Calendar. Gudhi Pudwa considered as beginning of Vasant (spring) season.
