Homemade Greeting cards: A Showcase of your creativity skills

As a child we had plenty of time to explore the world of art. We were given projects in school that let us showcase our creative skills and precision in artwork. Although as we grew older we do not have either the time or patience to create something of our own.

Well it’s a misconception that we do not have the time, because unless we are determined to do something we really want we cannot make time for anything. In today’s fast life, one tends to give a lot less time to their loved ones. The only time we really try and spend quality time with them is during holidays or when its an occasion like birthdays or anniversaries. The gifts and greeting cards industry is booming and ever-growing quite enormously due to people like us who don’t find the time to come up with their own ideas and style of expressing their feelings.

It is not a bad idea to create things on your own once in a while. It tends to be very meaningful when you add that personal touch to the thing that you have created on your own for your special someone. Be it a teenager gifting a card to his/her parents or boyfriends and girlfriends giving each other homemade greeting cards or spouses expressing their love for each other. There are many different ways in which you can make your homemade greeting cards beautiful and presentable. The materials required are normally affordable, in fact some items can be found at home in the form of old decoration sets.

First, get a mental picture of the color of the card and the size along with the kind of things that you want to include into it. Get all the basic articles ready by your side before you start turning in your imagination into reality. Some basic items are easily available in retail stores that sells books and articrafts to children.

Start off with a thick chart paper or if you want to be even more creative you could go for some velvet paper. Wisely choose the color of the paper because that forms the major background color for the other attachments that would go on to it. It is safer to stick to lighter colors but darker colors are also acceptable. Try and get some photographs of yourself with your loved one for whom you are going to put in all your efforts to show them how much you love them. Use a double sided tape or a folded single sided tape to stick the photographs. Another idea to get some free glittery add-ons for your card is from torn or worn out decorations that you use to decorate your house with, during festivities for eg. Christmas.

Some really cool designs from other existing greeting cards found at home can also be cut out and attached at appropriate places on your master piece. Sketch out a rough layout on your card paper with a light pencil drawing before you start sticking anything. Use of sketch pens are recommended because they are neat and your handwriting is enhanced by their use.  You can also use glitter pens or just simply sprinkle in glitter powder. Another idea to create a colorful mess is to dip an old toothbrush into liquid color and with your thumb to press on the bristles and spray it on the card. Try and keep some empty spaces in the card else it would turn out to look like a mess. As for the wordings that goes into your card, use them at your discretion and let out all your feelings for your loved one that no one would ever be able to tell them.

Try this once and just see the kind of fun you have when you make your card that reflects your style and attitude and most of all your love for the one who deserves it.
