Willard Wigan MBE is very famous for his micro sculpture in the world. For his micro sculpture, he uses a small surgical blade to curve his minuscule figure from grains of rice, sand and sugar and painting them with a single fine hair. He makes such things which are really looks impossible to do.
Willard Wigan was born in 1957 in Birmingham. He started his carrier as miniaturist at a very tender age, when was suffering from dyslexia and learning difficulties. He was awarded an MBE for his service of art in July 2007.
He often taking months to complete one piece of sculpture and he is working between heartbeats to avoid hand tremors. Her said “You have to control the whole nervous system, you have to work between the heartbeat – the pulse of your finger can destroy the work.”
He makes figures as small as 0.005 mm and 0.0002 in tall such as Santa Claus and a copy of the foot ball world cup trophy. According to Jonathan Jacob Willard Wigan is the only person in the world who can put snow white and her seven Dwafs into the eyes of a needle.
His work includes the Statue of Liberty in the eye of a needle as well as the Titanic on the head of a pin, and Henry VIII and his six wives in the eye of a needle.
