Acer has officially revealed their new Android device, the Stream. The device has been called the “Perfect Entertainment Machine”, and has been described as Powerful, Spectacular, Cutting-edge technologies, State-of-the-art connectivity, Ultra-fast, Highly sensitive. These are just some of the words that best describe Acer Stream, the latest technological jewel of the Taiwanese company. Defining it a smartphone would be reductive. In fact, Acer Stream is the utmost expression of technology, design, performance and entertainment,” by the press release of the device.
The Acer Stream is a fascinating high-end multimedia smartphone and has been specially optimized for watching movies, listening to music, and quality web browsing. The device seems to be rather perfect for users with high expectations from the smartphone. The device has an elegant designer look and is just 119.5 x 63 x 11.2 mm in size.

The user interface of the Acer Stream has been redesigned completely “to focus on what is essential to users and guarantee a simple and quick access to what matters to them.” The device has been provided with three types of predictive keyboards, a smart dialer and a redesigned contacts list, and comes pre-installed with quite popular applications as Nemo Player, Acer UrFooz, Facebook and Twidroid.
The Acer Stream smartphone has a AMOLED touchscreen with the support of 1.67M colours and a generous 3.7 inch WVGA display. The display is said to consume less energy, thus a better battery life. The phone also provides for 3G connectivity HSDPA 7.2 Mbps in download, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi n. The smartphone has been rightly called to be one of the fastest and most reactive phones in the market due to the combination of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz processor, with its 512 MB RAM and the operating system as Android version 2.1, better known as Éclair.
The Acer Stream smartphone enables recording of HD videos up to 720p, and provides FM radio with RDS, and Dolby Mobile quality sound. The UPnP technology provides for content sharing with other devices. The device is also featured with a 5 MP camera which allows geo-tagging features. The phone has an integrated GPS system and can be connected well to your home TV with the HDMI port.
Provided with facets as 2 GB of internal Flash memory which is ideal for the downloading of many applications and 3D games, the Acer Stream smartphone is also provided with an 8 GB memory card and a micro card slot which can support up to 32 GB. The handset will be accompanied by a 1400 mAh Standard Li-Ion Battery with Battery Life – 400 hours, and Battery Talktime – 5 hours. The phone also has a Dedicated Search Key, Music Player, Games and supports messaging features as SMS, MMS, Email, Instant Messaging, Push E-Mail.
The Acre Stream smartphone does seem to be rather extraordinary and appealing, and will be available in India by the third quarter of this year and is expected to be accompanied by a price tag of Rs.35,000/-.
