With a lot of smartphones available in the smartphone market as options for the buyers, this new Apple iPhone 4 launched on June 7 at the WWDC, shall not only add to the list of options, but also cause a bit of confusion for the consumers, on which direction to follow in order to avail one of these options. With the iPhone 4 running on the iOS4, the Android tablets or the other smartphones trying to make a mark in this industry, the user must know the comparative specification and review of the handsets in order to take a proper decision as to the technological path to follow.
The newest Android smartphones in the market, include the HTC Evo 4G, the Samsung Galaxy, the Motorola Milestone XT720, and HTC Incredible or Verizon, but is the new iPhone 4 better than these Android tablets?
In the matter of storage, the iPhone 4 may prove to be the apparent choice, as it comes along accompanied by a 16 GB memory for $199 and a 32 GB memory for $299, in comparison to the HTC Evo, or the Incredible, which is coming with only 8 GB of internal storage, and is of the same range as the iPhone 4 with 16 GB. But, the memory support for the latter can be expanded to 32 GB with the support of the Micro SD card. Thus, iPhone 4 does prove to be a good choice for the users who have large storage requirements.
In matters related to the speed of processing, the iPhone is accompanied by an A4 chip processor, which was found earlier in the iPads. This does help the Apple iPhone to be comparable among the latest Android smartphones. The Motorola Milestone XT720 is powered by a 550 MHz processor, and all the rest of the above mentioned tablets are powered by a 1 GHz processor. But, the actual comparison of speed is quite subjective, and largely depends on the operating system and the supported apps.

In terms of video recording, all the tablets support 720p video recording, with the advantage to iPhone 4, which is accompanied by the iMovie app, enabling video editing, not present in any other smartphones. In terms of the video calling facility, the Apple iPhone 4’s Face time video calling feature only works in Wi-Fi and only between iPhone 4 users. This does seem to be a limitation.
And in terms of battery life, the Apple iPhone 4 does seem to be claiming of the longest battery life among the Android tablets, with support of 7 hours of talk time. Even, the multitasking facility has been included the iPhone 4, which was already included in the Android smartphones.
On the overall, the new iPhone 4 does seem appealing and innovative, and is a clear evolution over the previous iPhones. The user must carefully decide on the path to choose, keeping in mind the requirements he has from the device, and how the requirements may be met by it!!
