According to rumors on the web, mainly based on the reports from the Electric Pig, the fourth generation iPod Touch from the home of Apple is to arrive in the month of September 2010, and is said to be accompanied by loads of attractive and appealing features and specifications that are quite new for the iPod Touch.

The novel attributes which are supposedly to be incorporated in the iPod Touch are the 5 MP camera, HD video capture (presumably at 720p), FaceTime and even the gyroscope, which are quite similar to the iPhone 4. The John Lewis “Xmas in July” event proved to be the initiating point for the expanded rumors about the iPod Touch. There, the retailer has also claimed that the new iPod Touch will also incorporate the LED Flash, rather similar to the iPhone 4.
U.K. retailer John Lewis said the information is based on “noises we’re hearing from suppliers”. Though no mention was specifically made of a forward-facing camera at the company’s presentation in London, it did say that FaceTime calling over Wi-Fi would be possible “so you can communicate with friends at zero cost.”
The curiosity about the next iPod Touch Refresh was kept intact by not revealing any information about the presence of the front-facing camera, though it is a necessary requirement for the FaceTime feature. Some of the other major inquisitive apprehensions of the device include whether the iPod Touch will incorporate the support for the 640 x 960 Retina Display support, or for that matter the provision foe the Apple’s custom-built A4 processor.
Originally, Apple was rumored to be incorporating the facet of camera into the iPod Touch which was launched at the September 2009 iPod Event, but later on, the feature was not added due to some problems with the modules of camera. But, later on, Apple had added a video camera to the 5th generation iPod Nano.
Finally, John Lewis has also added that the new iPod Touch will also include the accelerometer along with the gyroscope to boost up further the gaming capabilities of the device. It was also said that the HD videos would be capable of direct upload to YouTube over Wi-Fi. Though all the facts revealed are nothing but rumors, but because these have been revealed by John Lewis, being one of the biggest retailers of Britain, the rumors seem to be rather worth belief.
One PowerPage commenter thinks that such a device would achieve world domination:
If Apple pulls this off, the iPod Touch will dominate. It will be by far the best pocket multi-media device on the market. The iPod Touch will essentially become what the iPod was for Apple, they will sell tons of it and it will dominate the market. I mean with the Mac, iPad, and iPod touch combo Apple seems to be laying a very solid foundation that will make it a strong company for many more years.
The new iPod Touch is all set to be unveiled at the annual iPod refresh coming up this September. So, let us wait to see the outcome.
