Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the latest 10” tablet, has been just launched by Asustek Computer Inc. It is the 1st tablet having Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, which makes it the fastest and most powerful device in the market. This long awaited tablet from ASUS comes with a metallic swirl design with enhancements, such as HD 8-MP rear auto focus & LED flash camera and SonicMaster audio technology of company. It is an ultra-thin and lightweight device as compared to its predecessor Eee Pad Transformer and measures thickness of 0.33 inches and weight of 1.29 pounds.

This tablet will hit the worldwide market in December at the price tag of $499 for a 32GB Wi-Fi model and $599 for 64GB Wi-Fi model. The greatest thing about the Prime is that you can grab the optional dock accessory for more flexibility. Optional dock accessory of Transformer Prime that includes a multi-touch touchpad, keyboard, USB 2.0 port, SD card slot, 22Wh battery as well as a 40 pin connector, will be also available in December for $149. Very bright display

The Transformer Prime sports a 10.1” LED back-lit Super IPS+ touch screen with Corning Gorilla glass and capacitive multi-touch. It provides a very wide viewing angle of 178 degree and the resolution of the display is 1280×800 pixels. The Super IPS mode boosts retina-popping brightness up to 600 nits.

The display is also protected with a hydro-oleophobic coating to fight fingerprints and for easier cleaning. Tablet’s rear side is also covered with this anti-fingerprint coating with very nice brushed-metal finish. It will provide a better outdoor viewing experience and the touch screen is much more responsive than predecessor, according to Asus.

Impressive design

This tablet comes with innovative metallic swirl design made up of aluminum for a secure but very comfortable hold. It is an ultra-slim device with thickness of just 8.3mm and weighs 586g without the optional docking station. The optional docking station adds 537g in weight and10.4mm in thickness. The dock adds a track pad and full-size keyboard, as well as an extra battery.

The aluminum case is featured with two colors – Champagne Gold and Amethyst Gray. The aluminum case is also protected with a hydro-oleophobic coating to decrease fingerprint smudges.

Processor and software

The Transformer Prime is powered with NVIDIA’s next-generation Tegra 3 quad-core processor. This Tegra 3 quad core processor runs at 1.4GHz when only a single core is used and at 1.3GHz when all cores are active. It is also featured with 12-core GeForce GPU to deliver imposing graphics performance. With the12-core GeForce GPU, quad-core CPU and vSMP technology, this device offers an optimum user experience featuring full 1080P HD video for realistic media recording or playback, lightning fast app loading, smooth multitasking capabilities, a rich and fluid web experience, and incredible gaming performance.

This latest tablet will run on Android 3.2 Honeycomb or Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system through an over-the-air firmware update. A selection of apps such as Asus WebStorage, Asus Sync and MyCloud will be provided by Asus. Polaris Office and SuperNote will be pre-installed.

Pretty nifty camera

It sports an impressive 8-MP rear camera with an LED flash and autofocus to take brilliant photos. It boasts back illuminated CMOS sensor, a large F2.4 aperture, low-light noise reduction and touch-to-focus depth of field to provide the sharpest and clearest photos or even 1080P HD video recording. It also sports 1.2-MP front camera which allows for immediate photos or first-rate video conferencing with family, friends or coworkers.

Incredible battery life

Similar to the former Transformer, the Prime also contains an integrated 25Wh battery. The optional keyboard dock will be also available at $149, which can nearly double its battery capacity (+22Wh). The dock gives you a track pad, full keyboard, SD card reader and USB 2.0 port.

It has a battery life of up to 12 hours due to ASUS optimizations and the Tegra 3 processor‘s advanced power management features. However, when it combines with the mobile dock, battery lasts up to an unbelievable 18 hours, the highest battery life than any existing tablet.

It has an enough battery life for all-night game session, a trans-ocean flight, viewing some movies on a long road journey or even video recording, editing in 1080P HD clarity.

The Transformer Prime is featured with ASUS exclusive SonicMaster technology which is well-known for acoustically accurate audio. It will produce crystal clear sound with increased audio fidelity, distinct vocal enhancements and a wide sound stage, for an impressive audio experience with your beloved music track, movie, or video. Unlimited productivity

The Transformer Prime comes with two options of 32GB and 64GB flash storage for efficient, reliable and rapid access to your applications. These both models feature 3.5mm combo audio jack, a micro SD card slot, 1GB of RAM, GPS, built-in gyroscope and micro HDMI port.

It comes with several innovative applications like Polaris Office that provide the ability to read, create or edit Excel, Word and PowerPoint compatible files, and SuperNote which is incredible for its capability to take record or draw notes.
