Design and Build Quality

When it comes to the handsets design, these two giant brands have different approach. Samsung uses cheap materials while HTC always uses luxurious materials. The HTC Butterfly comes with unibody design and plain polycarbonate body with rubberized finish at back. The rubberized finish provides better grip. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy Note II comes with all-plastic construction and steel finished plastic frame. It has non-rubberized finish at the back which makes the device slippery. The HTC Butterfly weighs 140g and measures 143 x 71 x 9.1 mm whereas Galaxy Note 2 weighs 183g and measures 151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm. Galaxy Note 2 is heavier and thicker than HTC Butterfly.

The Galaxy Note 2 features 5.5″ Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels and a pixel density of 267 ppi. The HTC Butterfly has slighter, smaller display compared to Note II. It sports 5-inch Super LCD3 display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 440ppi. Higher resolution display means the content will appear much sharper. This phablet is 1st device to contain a 5-inch screen with full HD. Also, it is the first phone to have SLCD3 display. Although the Note 2 has bigger screen, the 1080p HD resolution on the HTC Butterfly leaves it behind.

Processor

Both devices have great processors that offer excellent performance. The Note is powered by 1.6GHz Exynos quad-core processor and a Mali MP-400 GPU while the HTC Butterfly relay on 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor and an Adreno 320 GPU. The Butterfly is among the first devices to have the fastest SoC in the Android universe (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor).

RAM and Storage

Both smartphones is equipped with 2GB of RAM but have different internal memory. The Butterfly has 16 GB built-in storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card and Note II has 16, 32, or 64GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 64GB through microSD card.

Software and UI

The Galaxy Note 2 is based on Android 4.1, Jelly Bean OS along with TouchWiz UI. On the contrary, the Butterfly is based on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system with HTC Sense UI 4+. Users will be able to upgrade the HTC Butterfly to the latest version of Android OS, 4.2 Jelly Bean.

When it comes to camera, these devices will satisfy the users as both have 8 MP rear camera with auto focus, LED flash and BSI sensor.
