HTC Google Nexus One or Nokia N900? Ultimate Phone Comparison

With the Nokia N900 which was launched yesterday, many people were rather left amazed by the features and specifications of the phone. However, the Nexus One, Google’s first smartphone released a few days earlier, could be compared against this newly launched tablet, which shall help the buyer prefer the one which suits his requirements most accurately.

In the field of appearance and looks, both of them have the capability of making a style statement of their own. The Nexus One does not come with a QWERTY keyboard, thus making it a little lighter and slimmer with a weight of only 130g, as compared to the N900 which comes with one, and weighs around 181g.

The touch sensitive screen of the Nokia N900 is about 3.5 inch, a bit smaller than the Nexus One with a display of 3.7 inch. The screen of N900 is WVGA while that of Nexus One is AMOLED. The N900 comes pre-installed with Flash 9.4 but the Nexus One is not accompanied by any, though it will support flash when Flash 10.1 will be released by Adobe.

On comparison of the camera specifications, both are accompanied by a 5 mega-pixel camera. But the N900 provides a 3 x digital zoom with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, Dual LED flash, video light, whereas the Nexus One provides only 2 x digital zoom.

In terms of performance, the devices are truly comparable. The Nexus One comes with the Qualcomm QSD 8250 1 GHz accompanied by the Android Mobile Technology Platform 2.1 (Eclair) Operating System. This is a great combination of technology and improves the performance to a great extent even when many simultaneous applications are running.

The Nokia N900 comes with the ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz processor, with PowerVR SGX530 graphics and Maemo 5 Linux based operating system. This is also a very fast combination, but according to many sources, the Nexus One is considered faster.

Going by the storage features, the Nokia N900 features a 32 GB of internal storage and a 256 MB RAM, but the Nexus One is only having a 512 MB of internal memory. In the case of external memory support, the Nexus One supports a Micro SD card expandable to 32 GB, but the Nokia N900 supports a Micro SD card expandable to 16 GB.

In terms of battery stand-by time and talk time, the Nexus One clearly stands out. The Nexus One allows a standby time of about 290 hours on 2G and 250 hours on 3G, with a talk time of 10 hours on 2G and 7 hours on 3G. On the other hand, the Nokia N900 allows a standby time of about 278 hours on 2G and 250 hours on 3G, with a talk time of 6 hours 30 minutes on 2G and 4 hours 30 minutes on 3G.

But, in terms of audio playback time, the Nokia N900 makes a mark by featuring a time of 24 hours 30 minutes, against that of Nexus One which is upto 20 hours of playback.

    I am a new Nokia n900 user from india, i require some guide from ur all, how can i use skype in my mobile phone where by it’s not showing the pre installed application. although i m not in a position to use aMSN in my mobile phone whn ever i m installing it, it saying unable to install as some installer files are missing please inform how can i use yahoo voice and movie calls and msn voice and movie calls and most crucial skype.
