Intel Studybook: Specs & Review of 7-inch tablet for School kids

Tablets play a significant role in modern education, from kindergarten to college. Children are not required to carry different textbooks with them at school as they can access all the books electronically. The tablet is an outstanding educational tool when used with the right software. Students can perform multiple functions such as write assignments, do internet research, prepare classroom presentations, etc. These days, the demand for reasonably priced tablet for school kids is increasing so manufacturers launch powerful devices at unexpectedly low price. Recently, Intel has released a tablet named Studybook for school kids in order to make their study more interactive and efficient.

Intel Studybook is specially designed for the young students aged between 4 to 8 years old. This new product by Intel Corporation is a part of the company’s Learning Series. It is resistant to dust and water. The tablet incorporates classroom-ready features and ultra rugged design. The rugged unibody design is made from a one piece of plastic. It is designed to resist accidental drops (from desk) and spills (due to slippery fingers). It also has smooth edges and rounded corners as well as screen shock-absorbers. Studybook weighs 1.2 pounds and measures 8.12″ x 5.31″ x 0.65,” which make it a perfect device for young kids.

It comes with 7-inch multi touch LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600P and runs on Android 3.0 or Windows 7 operating system as per the user’s choice or school district’s needs. It is preloaded with educational softwares such as classroom management, Kno e-reader and science software called LabCam. It is also equipped with note taking, drawing and e-reader tools. Users can connect temperature probes, special lens and other scientific tools to the tablet’s USB ports. It is powered by 1.2 GHz Atom Z650 processor of the company.

The device sports 2 cameras: front and back. The front camera is of 0.3MP while the back camera is of 2MP. Other features of this tablet are a USB port, 5.5 hours battery life, built-in motion sensor, Wi-Fi, optional 3G SIM card slot, Intel’s Trusted Platform Module (TPM) theft-deterrent solution, 1GB of RAM, multiple SSD storage options, a microphone, HDMI, rubber gasketing around the ports, headphone jack, audio output, micro SD / SIM slots and a light sensor.

The price of Intel Studybook is $200 in USA, €152 in UK and Rs 10000 in India. No information about the release date has been revealed by the company. This device will surely win a unique position among all the tablets for kids in the market. The overall design of the tablet is perfect and safe for the little kids. Currently, there are about 7 million students throughout the world who use Intel’s Classmate PCs.
