Microsoft has recently been pushing through in the field of mobile phones with its Windows mobile Phone Platform. The new WP7 platform is on the move and is slowly but steadily climbing up ladder in competitive smartphone operating systems. Today there are more to the Windows Phone than just the touchscreen and Xbox gaming. There are so many things that depend on the hardware that the manufacturer of the phone provides.
However, all the good things in life come with a good price. The cost of the WP7 has come down significantly in the past few years. Today we are going to talk about, in fact make a comparison of two low-end WP7 based devices, which are making the flagships of the platform. We are talking about the Nokia Lumia 710 and Samsung I8350 Omnia W, the two of the mid-end WP7 devices which are taking all the WP7 lovers all around off their feet.
The Nokia Lumia series is Nokia’s first definite step towards a different platform than their self built Nokia Symbian operating system. The Nokia Lumia 710 bears a 3.7 inch LCD screen and 8 GB of storage. Also known as Nokia Sabre, Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS, 1.4 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 3.7 inches Capacitive Touchscreen, Nokia ClearBlack Display, 5 MP Camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS are some more feathers in the device’s cap. It has been released in some Western European and Asian countries and is really doing well there.
The specs of the device shall reveal more about the technical aspects of the device. Here are a few reasons why one would prefer the Nokia Lumia710 over the rival Samsung Omnia. With its Lumia 710 device Nokia is offering a lifetime of Nokia drive navigation the only navigation technology available in countries like India. Better video recording capabilities and customizable covers are a few more things that may drive you towards buying the Nokia Lumia 710, also the price of the device is a tad less than the Omnia counterpart.
As far as the Samsung Omnia W is concerned, it was probably the most reluctant step that the company ever took in the a direction other than their already crowned Android platform. However, the leap definitely paid off and paid off pretty well. The device was one of the biggest selling devices when it was launched and the reason clearly was because of the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 clocked at 1.4 GHz, 3.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 480×800 and 8GB capacity of internal storage.
The 5 MP Primary Camera with LED flash and Secondary VGA Video Call Camera, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP, GPS, Microsoft office document viewer and editor are some more feathers in the Omnia’s cap. However, there are several reasons why we should go towards buying this one rather than the Lumia 710. Firstly because the Omnia W bears the super AMOLED compared to the simple TFT on the other end. That the device is little slimmer and has a bigger battery does also play a part in deciding to buy the Omnia W rather than the Lumia 710.
Well most of it comes doen to exactly what a buyer is looking for, but as far as my taste goes I would love to buy the Omnia W rather than the Nokia Lumia just seeing the brand difference that has come in between the two companies over the period of time. So there it is guys, hope you liked the comparison. Please do not forget to let us know of your opinions about the same in the comments section below.
