Polaroid 7-inch Android 4.0 kids tablet: Specs and Features


CES 2013 is just around the corner and manufacturers are launching the products that will be showcased at this largest tech show. Polaroid has taken the wraps off a new 7-inch Android based tablet for kids. The company will not only show off this tablet at CES 2013 but also a fancy Android-powered camera. This nameless tablet has rugged design and kids friendly features. Southern Telecom has designed and manufactured the device. Polaroid kids tablet has white and blue design with side & rear bumpers for safe gripping alongside the added protection from shocks, liquid accidents, spills and falls. It has a safe web browser and makes the learning fun for kids. It comes with 7-inch capacitive, multi-touch display with a resolution of 800×480 pixels. It is packed with 1.0GHz Cortex-A8 processor along with 512MB of RAM. It is based on Google’s Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich but does not allow kids to access the Google Play store. This helps to prevent kids from accessing the content that is inappropriate for them.


It features 8GB of built-in storage which can be expanded via Micro SDcard. There is a 2- megapixels rear camera that allows the kids capture photos & videos and share them with friends and family. It comes preloaded with kid-safe app store instead of the Google Play store. The kids can download free and paid apps from the kid-safe app store. It sports 35 kid-friendly full-version apps: (3) top rated learning Apps, (10) Dr. Seuss & Smithsonian interactive books, a music studio, Kids Cam, (16) super fun games, Kids Vids, an animated screensaver with lullabies and a drawing app. The Kids Vids app includes safe and filtered videos for kids.

There is also Nook bookstore preloaded in the device. The device also has built-in parental controls which let the parents or teachers to decide what their kids can do. Parents can disable the touch display of the tablet while the kids are enjoying videos or interactive books, thanks to the Baby Switch feature. Other features of the tablet are WiFi, headphone jack, built-in speaker, microphone, digital accelerometer and a 3,500mAh rechargeable battery.
