The Dual view cameras feature an extra LCD display in the front and help you shoot better portraits the persons who are getting their photos clicked can see the way the camera is capturing them in the front screens adjust accordingly to get a photo of their choice without the photographer intervening in the way they pose. The dual screen camera did seem a gimmick in the first go but I must admit they have really made a place for themselves in the industry.
So Samsung has announced two new dual screen models called the Samsung DualView ST600 and ST100 for the consumers. Both cameras boost resolution up to 14 megapixels, but more interestingly they’ve increased the size of the front-side LCDs to 1.8 inches (up from 1.5 inches in the original TL225 and TL220). Both also include large 3.5-inch back-side touchscreens with 1,152,000-dot resolution. And both the cameras shoot 720p HD video at 30 fps, offering scene recognition in still and video shooting modes. A Self-Portrait mode will be available on the Samsung DualView ST100, along with a couples mode that detects two heads tilted toward one another. The Children’s mode is back as well. The ST100 has been provided with the Samsung gesture UI that will allow maximum work to be done with minimal hand movements of the users.
The photos can also be scrolled by tilting the cameras to the left and the right and wiping on the screen. A slideshow mode is also available using which the users can see the photos in a slide show with zoom in and zoom out feature. We also get the features like – in-camera image editing, Resize, Rotate, and Trimming, and a Photo Style Selector lets shooters choose between image effects like Retro, Cool, Calm, Classic, and Negative. The camera comes in very stylish purple and pink colours with very slim metal body.
The ST600 is more or less a straight update to the TL225. It retains a 27mm equivalent wide-angle focal length of the TL225, but the new lens is a 5x optical zoom, rather than the 4.6x zoom of the TL225. “Unlike any other feature found on digital cameras, consumers immediately recognize the value of what our dual LCD technology can do for them. There is no learning curve or technical understanding that must be achieved as it is a natural extension of what our customers are already doing. Samsung is looking to simplify that task with the new ST600 and ST100, ensuring they have the ability to take the perfect profile shot, and never have to miss that perfect picture moment with family and friends, even if they’re not behind the camera,” said SJ Park, President of Samsung Digital Imaging Division.
The smart scene recognition that has been incorporated in the camera makes the photography experience even better and easier for the photographers. The self-portraits van be easily clicked with the front LCD display that means the counting and adjusting is a thing of the past. Both cameras will ship in September while the ST600 will sell for $329.99, the ST100 will be available for $349.99.
