In last year, Sony noticed lower sales of its PSP nearly by 50 percent in comparison to its previous year so the company now emerges to have been gearing up with a new gaming console on its hand. To capture its lost market share and to make it more attractive to people, Sony would offer PlayStation Portable 2 or PlayStation Phone devices filled with thrilling features. It is uncertain from the news-story whether Sony plans to officially disclose the new product to the world while concurrently implementing a press conference for journalists, or whether the company plans to demonstrate the PSP 2 behind closed doors to journalists. It is confirmed by numerous websites that they were invited for a Sony event.
As per rumors, the PSP 2 will include a new 4 core Cell CPU, touchscreen display capabilities, and front and rear facing cameras. 3G wireless compatibility and the same button designs as the existing PSP are the other probable added features. These features are just based on the frequency and likeness of reports about the probable spec sheet for the new PSP 2 as there is no autonomous justification of the specification sheet.
Games publishers were informed late last year of the Sony’s plans, according to the source and that some of Sony’s major developers are toiling away already on titles for the new console. There is no clear details by Sony on PlayStation Portable 2 and has not commented on rumors connected to the existence of the new device.
The big competitor for the rumored PlayStation Portable 2 will be the Nintendo 3DS device, which is set to release in Japan in late February 2011 and should appear about one month later on other markets. Nintendo 3DS handheld will let gamers to experience full three dimensional games without the use of any particular glasses and already several publishers have declared plans to deliver big franchises such as Metal Gear, Mario and Madden NFL on the new device.
