Joint venture of Japanese consumer electronic Sony and Swedish telecommunication company Ericsson, Sony Ericsson is going to launch Xperia play also known as play station phone on Sunday 13th February, 2011 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. Sony’s latest smartphone has been specially intended for playing video game in a Super Bowl commercial. The announcement of launch of Xperia Play is unveiled by Sony Ericsson on its facebook page.
Sony Ericsson will run on the Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. Maybe it will become the first Smartphone to meet the standards of Sony’s new PlayStation Certified distinction. It comes with range of extra innovative features which allows android based handsets to play older play station games on mobile phones and tablet computers. The device is expected to compete with Windows Phone 7 OS with Xbox Live, Apple’s iPhone and also other Android gaming phones, portable gaming devices and tablets.
It is equipped with sliding gaming pad that contains four directional buttons and four PlayStation buttons and also a touch pad. This latest device consists of 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon processor, microSD Card support, Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth, 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of ROM. It is also equipped with 5-megapixel camera at back side which is capable of Recording HD video.
In this handset game controller is given under the phone’s screen as keypad. Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play is already loaded with a playstation pocket app download manager. It comes with 4-inch multitouch display screen which gives 854 x 480 display resolution and uses superior high speed packet access (HSPA+) or 3.5 G networks and Adreno 205 graphics processing unit.
Sony Ericsson sponsored Xperia Play commercial video during the super Bowl XLV that originally leaked to the web last week. This is the first time that Sony joint with the Japanese parent company’s PlayStation group for manufacturing Xperia play. Previously Sony Ericson released mobile handset with Sony-developed music and camera facilities. The price detail of Xperia Play is not announced by Sony Ericsson yet, so you have to wait for sometime.
