Sprint HTC EVO 4G Review: The Best Android Smartphones Yet

March 2010 sees the unveiling of the first ever 4G integrated smartphone courtesy HTC. In fact this time the phone is dual branded as Sprint HTC EVO and is apparently a phone that lives up to its reputation and expectations. It is the current hot pick in the mobile phone dynasty. With a massive 4.3 inch touchscreen and multitouch functions Sprint HTC EVO 4G proves to be the perfect amalgamation of hardware of the Touch HD2, the Sense-on-Android smoothness of the Legend and idiosyncratic download speeds.

A device beyond compare, the Sprint HTC EVO 4G provides us with a robust list of features that includes a Snapdragon QSD8650 1GHz processor, 1GB of built-in memory and 512MB of RAM, 8.3 megapixel with flash that’s capable of 720p video and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. The device is also powered by the rather uncommon Google Android 2.1 operating system.

The phone equips a 480×800 4.3 TFT LCD that is wide enough for watching videos. It comes with a kickstand for hands-free video watching experience. It places itself well on a flat surface horizontally thus giving you great viewing experience. It also has a HDMI output and supports a wide range of video codecs. With the built-in 8.3 megapixel digital camera high definition video can be easily captured and viewed on the phone. With integrated HD video capture techniques and 4G speeds, slower uploads and grainy videos are history thanks to the new Sprint HTC EVO 4G. Using what is known as Qik it is no more a hassle to directly upload high quality videos directly from your phone to YouTube or share moments over the internet live. Sprint claims that 4G network delivers peak downloads that can be easily 10 times faster than that provided by 3G services. Moreover, it has a mobile hotspot functionality that amazingly allows about 8 Wi-Fi enabled devices to share the 4G experience.

The phone’s WiMAX radio can be controlled independently of the CDMA / EV-DO, Bluetooth, and WiFi radios — which will certainly be a boon for customers in 3G-only markets. Text messaging and emailing are even more time saving now in this new model of HTC where you do not need to type but just voice out your message and it gets converted to text. This is conveniently done by clicking on a microphone button on the screen. Android 2.1 OS enables you to search with pictures instead of words. A picture taken of any famous monument brings in all the information that one needs to know about the structure.

The phone provides you with easy navigation that includes a new feature known as Leap Essentially. Multitasking was never better with Leap Essentially where you can pinch anywhere on the home screen and you will have immediate access to seven thumbnails versions of your open pages. Yet another appealing feature of Sprint HTC EVO 4G is what is called the Friend Stream. It gets you into instant viewing of your friend’s status updates, shared links and pictures all at once. There are a plethora of other features that are typical of the HTC line of phones and all this together makes Sprint HTC EVO 4G undoubtedly the best phone of today, not to mention the best android phone in the market too.
