An inexpensive smart-phone and tablet computer will be launched by the second-largest U.S. television supplier Vizio Inc. at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Vizio Inc. used Android software of Google Inc. to attract customers, who cannot afford devices of Apple Inc. The Consumer Electronics Show will start on 6 January 2011 in Las Vegas.
TVs and Blu-ray players that use Google TV software will be also showcased by Irvine, California-based Vizio at the Consumer Electronics Show. Apple is the maker of the iPhone and iPad, and Research in Motion Ltd. plans to offer its Playbook tablet this year. Vizio will compete with Apple with its new products, such as low-priced smart-phone and tablet computer.

Smartphone and tablet are made in very aggressively priced by Vizio that is identified for low retail prices for its flat-screen televisions. Internet applications platform is being customized and the interface is being combined with Google’s Android software on the tablet, smartphone and new TVs by Vizio.
Vizio is recognized for insistently driving down prices with their inexpensive business model. Already the company had a main impact on the LCD and Plasma TV business and further more they will also desire to repeat this in the mobile device market. Vizio’s Via Phone will contain a 4-inch screen and front- and rear-facing cameras, and the Via Tablet will have an 8-inch screen high-resolution screen, Wi-Fi, and a front-facing camera.
Transmitters will be featured in Vizio tablet and smartphone by which Vizio tablet and smartphone are allowed to function as remote-control devices for other electronics. Both will be sold through Wal-Mart and Costco stores. Consumers are allowed to purchase and rent movies due to both Vizio tablet and smartphone will have access to a new Vizio “On Demand” movie service.
McRae said, “There is a huge gap in the market for people who can’t afford the iPad or whatever else”. He added, “The tablet and smart-phone will be sold at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Costco Wholesale Corp., and a carrier for the devices will be announced closer to their summer debut.”
