Nowadays, most of the people are using separate Gmail accounts for work, for family and friends. People using multiple Google accounts have to use different browsers to login into different accounts. But now, they can easily login into different accounts at the same time at the same browsers with the help of “Multiple Sign in” feature of Google. Multiple Sign in feature lets you to sign in to multiple accounts without logging out from any one.
Multiple sign-in feature is available on Google products like Gmail, Google Sites, Google Calendar, Google Voice, Google Reader, Google Code and App Engine. This feature is also available on mobile device. You can sign in into a maximum of 10 different Gmail accounts all at once with this feature. You can open multiple Gmail tabs for all the accounts. This feature does not work on offline mail and offline calendar. If you use offline mail or calendar, you may lose unsent mail.
1st account (used to sign-in) will be the default account for the remaining session while using multiple sign-in feature. As you sign into multiple accounts, you can’t go to other Google products which don’t support multiple accounts feature and if you visit them, you will be signed in your default account for that product. You can’t use shortcuts in a new window to open additional accounts if you are using multiple accounts feature.
How to enable Google Multiple Account Sign-in Feature?
First of all, visit Google.com and sign into your account.
Then hit on your account name on the top right corner of your Window and click on “Account settings”.
Personal Settings page will be appeared. Now, press on “Edit” option beside “Multiple sign-in” text.
Now, you will be reached on Edit page. Select the radio button beside “ON – Use multiple Google Accounts in the same web browser” and after that check and click all boxes below to confirm that you have understood all features and limitations of multiple sign-in. Then press on the “Save” button.
At the top of the page, you can see the Confirmation. Then press Back, to come back to the Accounts settings page.
Now, a downward arrow will appear next to the Google account. Hit it and then press “Sign in to other account” to add that account to your primary account.
Now you can sign into other Google account which you want.
When you click on the downward arrow, you can see the second account below primary account.
Repeat the same procedure to add more Google accounts.
To deactivate Multiple Sign-in Feature, visit personal settings page and then on Edit page. Select the radio button beside “Off – Use on Google Account at a time”.
Pros:
- Very easy to use.
- Allow Multiple Account Sign-in without logging out from any one.
- Open multiple accounts in same browser.
- Let to Sign-in into 10 different Gmail accounts.
Cons:
- Doesn’t support all the services of Google.
- When you sign out from one account, you will be signed out from all other gmail accounts automatically.
- Unsent mail may be lost if you use offline mail or calendar.
- Shortcuts cannot be used in a new window to open additional accounts.
