It is so sad to know that the expected number of tigers in India is continuously decreasing. According to the recent survey carried out in India, it is noted that there is a sharp decline in their population to 1,411. It is major cause is poaching for tiger fur, bones and other tiger products and loss of their natural habitat due to climate change and human activities like logging, farming and encroachment of forests.

At start of this century there were around one lakh tigers including 40,000 tigers in India in the whole world. Boost in population has lead people to struggle for finding place to live, that resulted in vanishing forest area and hence decrement in number of these wild animals. Hunting wild animals was considered as a sport activity and royal hobby of ‘Maharajas’ in early days of India. This has also been a reason for why india’s national animal is fighting for its life! Govt. of India also started Project Tiger scheme in 1973 to ensure a viable population of tiger in India.

To help “Save Our Tigers”, Aircel has partnered with WWF-India. The task of WWF is to prevent the humiliation of the planet’s natural environment and to build future in which humans live in accord with nature. Major population losses & extinction are being faced by Tigers. For sport, skins & body parts, Tigers are murdered. 3,500 tigers around the world and from them 1,400 are found from India According to the World Wildlife Fund.

You can also assist in “Save Our Tigers” by speaking up about the reason, blogging about tigers. Money can be also donated by you to NGOs working for the cause, like WWF-India at http://www.wwfindia.org/help/donate/.

Our future generation may well put Tigers besides Dinosaurs’ and know about them as extinguish animals, If we at-least don’t take steps now. If you want to show your concern on tigers practically, then head over here to make a mark.

A very good initiative raised by the authorities. Being an eleventh class student, I strongly feel that these kind of programs should be held at even a bigger rate in order to help our National Animal i.e., The TIGER. But, If only 1411 are left, why are delaying it even furthur? Why not act fast? I will try my best about this by spreading awareness in my school and colony in Bangalore and my hometown in Kolkata. I urge all the citizens of India here, and abroad to help.

it is so painful to know that a species as wonderful as the tiger is on the verge of extinction. this is just another reflection of how selfish humans have become. guess the phrase ‘live and let live ‘ does not make sense to humans anymore. anyways its high time we woke up to the fact that we are creating havoc in the eco-system, of which we too are a part of. kudos to aircel for launching this initiative. also its really heartening to see so many peaople responding to it and expressing their willingness to help out in their own small way.

as we no tiger is over national animal this is our pourdMan has always earned through exploitation of others. This is an age old habbit looked as lucrative. The punishment for Tiger poaching shoulkd be ‘life for life’. Unless and until one is not scared for ones own life, he/she will never understand the loss of another’s lifeLive is our right” for all being man or animal so its our duty to save or protect any kind of killness. we should take some serious step to save our tiger’s bcz this is our pride & property. goverment also take some responsbility. actually we all indian people are so irresponsible & selfish person we don’t care how many tiger’s left in our country. if in future no tiger left in our country so this is so emberesing & shamefull thing. our next genration does’t forgive ustigers are our national animals ,so we should preserve them
they do not have food, food can be supplied from country side. so ple help THEM > THEY NEED OVER HELP

Its such a sorry situation….seems too late to protect this endangered species….rather than fooling and talking around some serious actions need to be taken….cant just leave them to extinct and become a history…

in a situation where human life is not valued…I am sure there shall be a hand full of people who can drive this movement to save our tigers….I would like to be one of them and would like to do my bit…
